One of the big events on the March community calendar takes place Saturday.
The Kiwanis Club is holding its 71st annual pancake feed at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment this week, club president-elect Mike Perigo said he expects the club will serve around 2,000 people. He also says a lot of people are helping during the event.
Current club president Gary Gooszen says the event actually started at White Auditorium and was an all-day affair. Regardless of the location, the club takes pride in holding the event and serving the community.
The event goes from 7 am to 1 pm, with the menu including all-you-can-eat pancakes, Fanestil bacon sausage, milk, juice and coffee.
Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door for adults, $5 for ages 4-8 and free for kids ages 3 and under. Tickets are available at Allstate Insurance, Country Mart, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, Mark II Lumber, Waters True Value and Williams Automotive.
