The State High School Basketball tournaments begin Wednesday. Four area teams will be playing in the State tournaments.
At the 1A State tournament at Dodge City The Waverly girls play Rural Vista one of 3 undefeated teams in the tournament. Waverly won a State Championship in 2017. Coach Ty Piper just wants his team to compete.
Tip-off for that game is set for 3pm. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
Olpe is making their 28th state appearance. Coach Jesse Nelson says its still a big deal.
Olpe goes in undefeated, they play Hanover the defending 1A Division I champion. Coach Jesse Nelson says everyone will have to contribute.
This will be the 4th meeting with Hanover in State Tournament play. Tip-off for the Olpe – Hanover game is set for 4:45p and will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
The Lebo boys play their first game at the 1A State tournament Thursday against Osborne.
At the 2A tournament at Hays the Mission Valley boys play Hutchinson Trinity in the 3pm game Wednesday.
The 5A State tournament begins at White Auditorium with girls first round action.
At 3pm with number 1 seed McPherson playing Topeka Seaman.
At 4:45p St. Thomas Aquinas plays Maize South.
At 6:30p Goddard plays Blue Valley Southwest
at 8:15 Wichita Heights plays Kansas City Schlagle
The boys play their first round games Thursday.
