Next week, several significant improvement projects will either start or resume on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia.
Construction on several bridges in southern Chase County will start Monday. Re-decking and widening will start at mile marker 100, 27 miles southwest of Emporia. That work will lead to single-lane traffic from mile markers 98-102. Also, separate work to mill and overlay a bridge at mile marker 94 will begin. Single-lane traffic is expected from mile markers 93-95 with that project.
Just north of Emporia, bridge construction resumes next week on 10 southbound bridges between mile markers 129-130. Traffic will be pushed to the northbound lanes and will be in single-lane flow during the project.
