The Waverly Lady Bulldogs outlasted the Chase County Lady Bulldogs to pick up a sub-state semi final win 33-29 in El Dorado Thursday.
Waverly would get out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter before a 10-3 run by Chase County would tie the game at the end of the first. In the second quarter Waverly would hold Chase County to just three points to take a 21-13 lead into the locker room.
In the third Chase County would hold Waverly to three points and take a 27-24 lead into the fourth before Waverly would go on a 9-2 run to seal the win.
Coach Ty Piper says it was not a strong offensive game.
Waverly was led in scoring by junior Megan Foster with 13 points and senior Lilly McWilliams with 12 points. Junior Laken Vandegrift led Chase County with 11 points.
Waverly now advances to the 1A sub-state championship where they will meet Argonia on Saturday.

Mission Valley 61 Northern Heights 50. Mission Valley will play Hillsboro in Championship game.
Maranatha Academy 76 Lyndon 41.

Burlington 64 Osage City 33. Burlington will play Eureka in Championship game.
