The state of Kansas’ first Miss Amazing pageant is fast approaching.
Activities will officially take place from 4-6 pm Saturday at the Emporia Arts Center. Organizer Michelle Roberts tells KVOE News a lot is coming Saturday.
The minimum age limit is five years old. There is no maximum age limit, so Roberts says 20 girls and adults from ages 5 to 40 are already signed up.
Miss Amazing first developed in Nebraska in 2007 and now has pageants in 35 states. Roberts says the event offers girls with different disabilities a focus on skills they need in life. She also says Emporia made a natural host site because of its location, and she says the event will return to Emporia next year due to the outpouring of support locally.
A pajama party helps to kick off the activities Friday evening. Check-in is at 10 am Saturday, with orientation and final preparations starting at 10:30 am.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the Arts Center, 815 Commercial. For more information, go online to www.ks.missamazing.org, email ks@missamazing.org or find Kansas Miss Amazing on Facebook.
