No injuries were reported and a small amount of damage developed after a kitchen fire at an Emporia senior living apartment complex Wednesday.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Rich Gould says the fire at Presbyterian Manor, 2300 Industrial Road No. 114, was reported shortly after 2:15 pm. The currently unnamed occupant was dropping off some groceries and inadvertently bumped a kitchen stove knob, turning on the appliance. A cutting board on top of the burners caught fire, starting a nearby microwave on fire as well.
Building maintenance put out the fire.
