An Emporia residence was without power after a small fire developed inside an electrical panel Monday evening.
Fire crews were called out to 317 Rural Street shortly before 6 pm for a reported structure fire. According to Battalion Chief Ryan Conley, a resident of the home noticed smoke inside the residence and then discovered a small fire inside of an electrical panel.
Conley tells KVOE News, the resident then extinguished the fire and called 911. Westar energy was called out to inspect the panel and power was shutoff to the home until the inspection was completed to prevent any further issues.
No injuries were reported.
