A special traffic enforcement effort is now underway across much of the KVOE listening area.
The Seatbelts Are For Everyone effort involves heightened law enforcement presence around schools. This happens to be the enforcement phase of the campaign, which also includes a survey of high school drivers and related education. It also involves citations and fines for drivers or passengers not properly belted or restrained.
Sheriff’s offices in Lyon, Coffey and Greenwood counties have announced their involvement. The Emporia Police Department is also involved. The special enforcement effort runs through March 8.
