Travel is now close to full speed on streets, roads and highways after Tuesday night’s snowfall.
Road conditions improved tremendously Wednesday, thanks to abundant afternoon sunshine and temperatures in the mid- and upper 30s. Even Emporia’s residential streets cleared off to a large degree as the day progressed.
Looking forward, there is an outside chance you may come across a slick spot both Thursday and Friday mornings, although this doesn’t really pertain to any refreeze risk mentioned Wednesday after the Tuesday night snowfall areawide.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says patchy freezing fog or freezing drizzle is possible up until mid-morning Thursday.
On Friday, there is a slight chance of light snowfall before sunrise before a transition to freezing drizzle and then drizzle by mid-morning.
Friday’s drizzle during the day is the lead wave of a potent winter storm that could bring us widespread rain by Friday night, possible thundershowers or thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and snow Saturday night. We’ll keep you posted on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
