Newman Regional Health’s emergency department complex is now complete.
The Clinical Decision Unit and new Cardiac Cath Recovery area are now in place, finishing a process that started just before Christmas when Newman ExpressCare moved from Flinthills Mall and a new $15 million emergency department opened its doors.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Wednesday, CEO Bob Wright said there was a smooth transition between the longstanding ER and the new facility.
Traffic is down slightly at the emergency department, but only because flu traffic has been more noticeable at hospital clinics than at the emergency room. ExpressCare traffic, meanwhile, was up 10 percent immediately after its move.
Work started in the summer of 2017, with emergency room construction wrapping up last month.
