The Emporia High girls basketball team trailed Topeka Seaman 14-7 after the first 8 minutes and would never catch up in a 40-28 loss Tuesday night. In the boys game Seaman out scored the Spartans 42-36 in the 2nd half in a 63-60 win over Emporia High.
Emporia High girls Coach Carolyn Dorsey said there was some encouragement in the loss.
Taylor Milleson was the leading scorer with 12 points for the Lady Spartans.
The Emporia High boys held a 12-6 lead after the first quarter and led 24-21 at halftime. But Topeka Seaman would start the 2nd half on a 13-4 run on the way to a 63-60 win over the Spartans. Coach Beau Welch was pleased with the effort.
Emporia High had 4 players score in double figures led by Spencer Stewart with 14 points. Kyler McCullough and Hayden Pauls both scored 11 points and Beau Baumgardner added 10.
The Emporia High girls and boys are scheduled to host Manhattan Tuesday night. Game times area 6pm for the girls and 7:30 for the boys. The games will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
