iLuminate sold out Monday night’s show as part of the Emporia Arts Center’s Performing Arts Series. The high-tech dance troupe did not disappoint.
iLuminate blacked out the Albert Taylor Hall stage, using only their costumes to provide a multicolor dance experience for the sellout crowd.
Typically, concertgoers are asked to turn their phones on silent. iLuminate took an extra step and asked the audience to turn their phones to airplane mode because the group’s equipment relies heavily on WiFi.
iLuminate launched in 2009 and gained fame by finishing third on America’s Got Talent two years later. Since 2011, iLuminate has performed on “Good Morning America,” the American Music Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards and “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” among others.
iLuminate’s current tour ends next month.
Up next for the Performing Arts Series are noted pianist Andreas Klein on March 10 and the swing sounds of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on April 30. More information is available by calling 343-6473 or by going online to www.emporiaksarts.org.
