Nobody was injured after a small chimney fire developed in a south Emporia home on Monday afternoon.
Fire developed at 201 Neosho shortly before 2:30 pm. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Rich Gould says the home occupants thought the fire was out but called firefighters anyway, and fire crews noticed a small fire at the top of the chimney. They put it out shortly after arrival.
Creosote, defined as either a flammable oily liquid or tar, is the listed cause. Damage is listed as minor.
