The Emporia Community Foundation will host its annual Emporia Area Match Day event for the sixth year.
Originally part of a five-year guarantee, the Community Foundation Board agreed to extend the community event, as it’s raised over $800,000 since its inception, for another three years. With this update comes a few changes.
The foremost of these changes state that the original fifteen groups, who were grandfathered into the event, must now apply to participate. ECF Director Becky Jeppesen goes over the qualifications for applying.
The ECF Board of Directors voted to accept up to twenty-five groups this year. Applications went live Monday morning for groups who would like to be a part of the Match Day. Jeppesen gives the deadline for applying.
Online giving will also return to the Match Day event. Last year was the first year this was implemented, and donations came in from across the nation.
The 2019 Match Day will be on Nov. 11th at the Flinthills Mall from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm. Online giving will be available all 24 hours. For more information on Match Day or to apply, call (620) 342-9304 or visit emporiacf.org.
11:00 am Monday: Match Day applicants have short window to return forms
Applications are now available for community groups hoping to be involved in the Emporia Community Foundation’s sixth annual Match Day later this year.
Applicants will be accepted from Lyon and all surrounding counties. Unlike the last several years, however, the original list of groups chosen to be involved will not be grandfathered in — and as a matter of fact, all participating groups have to apply for involvement.
Qualifying groups must have annual operating budgets of $150,000 or less.
Applications are available at the Community Foundation office, 527 Commercial, or online at www.emporiacf.org. They are due by 5 pm March 1. Participating community groups will be announced March 27. Match Day is slated for Veterans Day.
