The Emporia State mens basketball team held on for a 66-63 win over Central Oklahoma Thursday.
The Hornets scored the games first 9 points and never trailed. Emporia State led by 16 points late in the first half. The biggest lead in the 2nd half was by 13 points. Central Oklahoma cut the lead to 3 points twice but could never take the lead. Emporia State Coach Craig Doty called it an ugly win.
Julius Jackson scored a game high 26 points to lead Emporia State. He was 13-13 from the freethrow line and has tied the school record for consecutive made free-throws at 27 in a row to tie Robbie Ballard’s Emporia State record for consecutive free throws set during the 2002-03 season.
Kooper Glick added 17 points and Hassan Thomas finished with 10 points. The Emporia State men are now 10-13 for the season and 5-9 in the MIAA. They are scheduled to host Northeastern State Saturday.
