One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after an accident on the Kansas Turnpike involving a semi and car Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred at mile marker 147 southbound, close to the Admire-Council Grove exit, around 7:30 am. According to the Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Ivan Moehlman of Hutchinson was driving a semi southbound when according to Moehlman the wind whipped his trailer causing him to strike a wall.
Debris from the semi then hit a 2012 Mercedes-Benz driven by 52-year-old Mandie Hawkins of Emporia. Moehlman was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries. Hawkins was not hurt.
The wreck threw debris across both southbound and northbound lanes, briefly slowing down traffic in both directions.

One person was transported for medical treatment after a crash on the Kansas Turnpike northeast of Emporia on Tuesday.
Emporia fire crews say the patient was taken to Newman Regional Health with apparently non-life-threatening injuries after the crash, which happened near mile marker 147 southbound — very close to the Admire-Council Grove exit — around 7:30 am and involved at least one semi. The patient’s name has not been released and further crash details are currently pending.

Multiple agencies have responded to a reported injury crash on the Kansas Turnpike in northeast Lyon County.
Authorities were dispatched at 7:30 am to mile marker 147 southbound, close to the Admire-Council Grove exit. Early indications are a semi wrecked, sending debris over both southbound and northbound lanes of traffic.
No additional information is currently available. Traffic will be slowed during the emergency response and crash cleanup.
Currently, the Kansas Highway Patrol and rescue crews from Emporia, Miller and Reading have all been called to the scene. Updates will be on KVOE and KVOE.com.
