The Emporia State womens basketball team overcame a 15 point 3rd quarter deficit to defeat the 21st ranked Jennies of Central Missouri 65-62.
The game had a slow start with Central leading 8-7 after the 1st quarter. At halftime Central led 25-21. In the 3rd quarter Central built a 15 point lead before the Lady Hornets closed out the quarter with a 12-4 run. That run carried over into the 4th quarter with Emporia State out scoring Central 24-14 in the final 10 minutes. Brittany Kramer was fouled on a 3 point shot and made all 3 free throws to give the Lady Hornets the lead for good with 4:40 to play. Coach Toby Wynn was pleased to get the win.
Tyra Jones led the Lady Hornets with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Jessica Wayne also scored 17 points.
Emily Miller added 14 points to the win. The Emporia State women have now won 6 in a row and improve to 18-5 for the season and 9-4 in the MIAA. They will host Central Oklahoma Thursday.
