The Emporia High girls won and the boys were defeated by Topeka West Friday night.
The Emporia High girls basketball team held on for a 37-31 win over Topeka West. West held a 12-11 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Spartans took the lead in the 2nd quarter. They would lead by as many as 10 in the 4th quarter. Coach Carolyn Dorsey glad to get the win.
Gacie Gilpin led the Lady Spartans in scoring with 10 points.
The Emporia high boys fell behind early thanks to a 18-2 run in the 1st quarter by Topeka West and never caught up in a 58-35 loss. Coach Beau Welch said it started early.
Beau Baumgardner was the leading scorer for the Spartans finishing with 14 points.
The Emporai High girls and boys host Topeka High Tuesday night.
