The Emporia State mens basketball team closed out the game on a 12-2 run to seal a 89-77 win over Southwest Baptist Thursday night.
The Hornets built a 14 point lead in the 2nd half before Southwest Baptist cut it to a 2 point lead with 2:46 to play. Down the stretch Hassan Thomas and Julius Jackson made 3 point shots. Both Thomas and Jackson also made 2 free throws. Kam Rowan also made 2 free throws seal the win. Coach Craig Doty called it a good team win.
Julius Jackson led the Hornets with 22 points. Hassan Thomas added 20 points.
Sawyer Glick added 14 points and Aaron McGee scored 10 points. Karim Mouliom led the Bearcats with 27 points and 10 rebounds. With the win the Hornets are now 9-12 for the season and 4-8 in the MIAA. They play at Central Missouri Saturday with tip-off at 3:30pm.
