A big weekend coming up for the Granada Theatre, as the theatre will be celebrating its 90th birthday on Sunday.
Opening in 1929, the Granada Theatre has become a city icon for Emporia and is still booming with business today. Executive Director Aden Lindholm previews what will go down this Sunday.
The EHS Drama Club has been practicing every Sunday for over a month for their performances. Lindholm is especially grateful for their participation and says that some of the donations received will go to the Drama Club.
Around fifty stories were entered to be told about personal experiences at the Granada. Lindholm says these stories will range from silly to sentimental, but there is a particular story that he is excited for the public to hear.
The Granada’s birthday celebration will be free for the public, but several donation booths will be set up. For more information on the 90th birthday celebration or for a schedule of the several upcoming shows, visit their website at http://www.emporiagranada.com/.
