Road conditions have improved after a stubborn batch of wintry precipitation, but they are not back to normal yet.
Lyon County Road Manager Dennis Baysinger says the high level of sunshine we received today (TH) has helped to clear ice from the roadways.
Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope says while conditions have improved tremendously, residents should still take caution while travelling after sunset.
The Emporia Police Department has returned to normal crash reporting procedures after being in Phase III accident reporting through most of Wednesday and Thursday.

At least one weather-related injury crash has already been reported in the area this (TH) morning. Tyler Godwin, age 20 of Haysville, was hurt after his car hit an icy patch on the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 106, about 21 miles southwest of Emporia, shortly after 1 am. His car went off the highway and rolled. Godwin was taken to Newman Regional Health afterward with suspected minor injuries.
