No injuries were reported after a transformer reportedly failed in a west Emporia neighborhood Tuesday.
Emporia Fire and Westar Energy crews were called to the 1300 block of Grand shortly before noon after a nearby resident reported a loud “boom” and smoke from behind a house.
Less than 5 people were offline, according to the Westar Energy outage map, and the outage lasted less than an hour.
