It was a mixed night for the Emporia High basketball teams at Junction City Saturday.
The Lady Spartans rolled to a 52-15 win. They led 16-6 at the end of the first quarter and continued to build on the lead. Emporia High Coach Carolyn Dorsey said they accomplished what they wanted to accomplish.
Senior Taylor Milleson tied her career high with 20 points. The Emporia High girls are now 6-8 for the season and 3-5 in the Centennial League.
The Emporia High boys were locked in a back and forth game before losing 54-49 in overtime. It was tied at 10 after the first quarter. The Spartans led 23-20 at halftime. Junction City used a 10-2 run to start the 3rd quarter.
Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said that was the difference in the game.
The game was tied at 45 after regulation. Junction City out scored the Spartans 9-2 in the overtime. Kyler McCullough led Emporia High scoring a career high 21 points. Charles Snyder finished with 14 points. The Spartans are now 9-5 for the season and 4-4 in the Centennial League.
The Emporia High girls and boys play at Washburn Rural Tuesday.
