Westar Energy has replaced a power pole destroyed in a crash south of Emporia early Saturday.
Crews were called to the 1400 block of Road J, about two miles south of Emporia, after the wreck was reported around 5 am. Power was re-routed to minimize outages for nearby customers, but the Westar online outage map still demonstrated at least two short-term outages affecting over 60 customers before the pole was replaced shortly after 1 pm.
Lyon County Deputy Danny Broyles says a pickup went off the road and struck the pole, shearing it off at the base. Nobody inside the truck was hurt, but other crash details are currently pending.
The 1400 block of J was closed while Westar replaced the pole. The road has reopened to traffic.
