Last month, the retailer Shopko announced it was closing nearly 40 stores as part of a bankruptcy adjustment. One of those stores is in the KVOE listening area.
Burlington’s Shopo location at 300 Cross Street is slated for closure April 8. It is one of eight stores in Kansas that will be closed as part of last month’s announcement.
Shopko is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It says it has secured $480 million in funding to keep operating through the bankruptcy process, but pharmaceutical drug supplier McKesson Corporation has filed suit against Shopko, saying the retailer owes it nearly $70 million.
Shopko currently operates over 360 stores in 26 states.
