Chase County will host the 2019 Symphony in the Flint Hills later this year.
Organizers announced Irma’s Pasture near Bazaar will be the featured site. The concert will be on private ranchland owned by Symphony in the Flint Hills board chair Mike Stout and his brother, Joe Stout.
This will be the 14th Symphony in the Flint Hills event. Prior to the annual concert by the Kansas City Symphony, other on-site activities will include prairie walks, covered wagon rides, poetry, stories, inspriational talks, a juried art exhibit and auction and an after-concert dance. The theme this year will be “Ad Astra,” including regionwide activities linking to the Jump!Star arts program supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The concert will be held June 15. Tickets go on sale March 2. Burlington Northern Santa Fe is the major presenting sponsor for the fifth straight year.
