The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated a number of business successes from the past year as it held its 122nd Annual Meeting on Friday night.
Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna called it a great night.
During the event, presentations were made to the Chamber’s major award winners. Greg Bachman received the Business of the Year honor for PT Associates.
Madeleine Matthews was named Volunteer of the Year, and the Chamber Ambassadors were named the Committee of the Year. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to longtime local banker and community volunteer Ken Buchele.
Also, Russ Bonitatibus formally became Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors, succeeding Jeff Williams.
McKenna says 2019 will be busy for the Chamber. Last year, the Chamber hired Opportunity Funding to do a business feasibility study as a gauge of business needs and goals. Opportunity Funding will continue its work with the Chamber to refine the goals discussed last year, and McKenna says that will lead to a capital campaign to foster those goals and objectives.
