Travel across the KVOE listening area can best be described as seasonal to dry after major melting took place Wednesday.
Temperatures climbed to the mid-30s Road conditions improved significantly as the day progressed, with Emporia’s major arterials and residential collector streets returning to near-normal conditions by mid-afternoon. Several residential streets also had major improvements, although there are still a fair amount of slick spots on side streets and at different intersections.
Early concerns about a possible refreeze have not developed as temperatures stayed in the mid-20s overnight.
The travel issues began after Tuesday’s cold rain began freezing on roads before changing to a wintry mix and a light snowfall. Numerous schedule adjustments were reported for Tuesday and for Wednesday. There are no schedule adjustments in effect for Thursday at this time.
