The Emporia State women out scored Pittsburg State by 9 in the 4th quarter on the way to a 77-71 win over the gorillas Wednesday night.
The game featured 11 ties and 9 lead changes. Emporia State took the lead for good with 7:23 to play and would go on a 15 5 run to build a 10 point lead. Pittsburg State cut the lead to 2 before the Lady Hornets closed out the game with 4 made free throws.
Tyra Jones had her 7th double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Addie Lackey finished with 14 points and Jessica Wayne scored 12 points.Tiana Moala finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and 3 steals.
It was the first home loss of the season for Pittsburg State. The Lady Hornets with the win are now 13-5 for the season and 4-4 in the MIAA. they will play at Missouri Southern Saturday.
