Facing lower donations last year versus past years, the Emporia Rescue Mission is making some adjustments to its operations at Abundant Harvest.
Director Lee Alderman says monthly donations are down over the last 12 months by an unspecified amount. Coupled with an overall drop in monthly support due to changes last year in tax laws, Alderman says the Abundant Harvest clothing room operations will be suspended for the foreseeable future. This means Abundant Harvest will not have free clothing and will not accept clothing donations.
Alderman says the ministry is hoping a church can take over the clothing ministry. In the meantime, Abundant harvest will re-focus efforts on providing fresh food through its fresh boxed food program and free evening meals.
For more information, call Alderman at 794-2977 or email emporiarescuemission@gmail.com. Donations can be mailed to Box 901 in Emporia.
Alderman will join KVOE’s 7:05 am newscast Tuesday with more information.
