No Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs. The New England Patriots defeated the Chiefs 37-31 in overtime to win the AFC Championship game.
Coach Andy Reid says this one hurts.
The Patriots led 14-0 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter Patrick Mahomes threw a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce for the Chiefs first score. New England added a fieldgoal to take a 17-7 lead into the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes to Damien Williams.
Damien Williams added a rushing touchdown. But it took a Harrison Butker 39 yard fieldgoal to get the game to overtime. New England won the coin toss in overtime and the Chiefs never had the ball.
New England will play the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53. The Rams out scored the New Orleans Saints 26-23 on a 57 yard fieldgoal by Greg Zuerlein in overtime. The Super Bowl will be played February 3rd.
