4 pm Thursday: Winter weather advisory issued in advance of incoming weekend storm system
An incoming winter storm system could give us light snow, a wintry mix of precipitation and a whole lot of cold.
TV-13 meteorologist Jeremy Goodwin says the weather conditions could have a major impact on travel throughout the weekend.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of the KVOE listening area including Lyon, Osage, Coffey, Morris and Wabaunsee counties. The advisory goes into effect at 6 pm Friday and will remain in effect until 12:00 pm Saturday.
One to three inches of snow are expected, with totals increasing as you move to the northeast. Low temperatures of 19 degrees Friday night will be accompanied by northerly winds as high as 35 mph. Travel could be hazardous Saturday, even with the lower snow amounts in the forecast, because winds will still be as high as 20-30 mph.
