Renovations on the third floor of the Lyon County History Center are now officially complete.
Lyon County History Center Director Greg Jordan was happy to make the announcement on a recent edition of KVOE’s Newsmaker segment. Work on the third floor began in October of last year.
The space will be available to host a variety of events including business meetings, reunions and even weddings. Jordan encourages anyone looking for a venue to host such events to look into utilizing the new space.
In the past, the third floor has hosted several concerts. The newly renovated space can accommodate up to 200 people and includes restrooms and a kitchen space.
Currently, the History Center is in the process of installing new audio and video equipment on the third floor which was purchased using funds from a recent grant through the Emporia Community Foundation totalling $2,500.
Along with the ECF Grant, the History Center also received a $20,000 grant from the Cleeve Cook Memorial fund last year. According to Jordan, those funds will be used to help expand the current exhibits on display.
