A month after an Emporia man was found with at least one gunshot wound in the 800 block of Sylvan, the investigation continues in the case.
Anthony Evans, 39, was found Dec. 16 after the shooting. He was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment afterward and there has been no update on his condition since the shooting.
Emporia Police have been investigating since the outset, and few details have been divulged over the last month. Two people considered as persons of interest in the shooting, 29-year-old Chelsea Brooks of Topeka and 37-year-old Jon Buchanan of Emporia, were arrested Dec. 18 after separate but related chases originating in the 600 block of Commercial. Both face charges associated with the chases, but neither have been charged in connection with the shooting.
Buchanan has two hearings this week, one at 10:30 am Wednesday on charges of violating the state’s offender registration act and one at 1:30 pm Thursday on charges of flee and elude, resisting arrest and meth possession.
