Governor-elect Laura Kelly isn’t the only person in final preparation mode for Monday’s inauguration ceremonies.
Kansas Poet Laureate and Emporia State professor Kevin Rabas is reading one of his poems during the ceremonies Monday morning.
During an interview as part of Thursday’s 8:05 am newscast, Rabas said it took close to three weeks to write his poem.
His time as poet laureate ends in May, and Rabas says he has enjoyed his time in the role. He also believes Kelly will put a high emphasis on the arts during her time as governor.
Rabas’ poem will be online through the Humanities Kansas website, www.humanitieskansas.org, and at KVOE.com shortly after the inauguration ceremonies conclude Monday.
