Northwest Missouri State made 17 three point shots on the way to a 79-59 win over the Emporia State mens basketball team Wednesday night.
Emporia State had taken a 8-6 lead in the first half on a Malik Hluchoweckyj 3 point shot. Northwest would go on a 13-0 run to take a lead they would not give up. The Hornets cut the deficit to 6 at 48-42 in the second half only to have Northwest go on a 19-10 run to take a 15 point lead. They would build it to a 26 point lead. Northwest was led by Joey Witthus with 32 points. He was 5-13 from the 3 point line. Emporia State Coach Craig Doty was encouraged by the effort.
Kooper Glick led Emporia State with 22 points. Malik Hluchoweckyj added 14 points. The Hornets fall to 6-7 for the season and 1-3 in the MIAA. They play at Missouri Western Saturday with tip-off at 3:30p.
