Outgoing Plumb Place Director Clara Corn is reflecting on her tenure with the agency and looking ahead.
Corn took over as interim director for Plumb Place in April 2017 after the departure of longtime leader Jill Wheeler. For most of the last year, she was also working at KANSASWorks — and she tells KVOE News it was time to make a change. However, she says her time at Plumb Place has been fulfilling.
Corn announced her resignation on social media last week. As part of her statement, she said she still plans to volunteer at Plumb Place.
Plumb Place offers emergency and transitional housing for women in crisis, as well as counseling and job services.
Corn departs as Plumb Place is still working through the reported loss last summer of over $50,000 between January 2014 and April 2017. Corn says Plumb Place is working to secure funding.
Plumb Place has also submitted its annual application for funding through the United Way of the Flint Hills, which temporarily halted funding last year after the financial issues came to light.
The Plumb Place Board of Directors will formally begin its search for a new director soon. For more information, call 342-1613 or go online to www.plumbplace.org.
