One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after a two-semi accident on the Kansas Turnpike Saturday morning.
The Kansas Turnpike authority and Emporia Emergency Crews were called out to a reported injury accident at turnpike mile marker 102 southbound 25 miles southwest of Emporia shortly after 11:30 am Saturday morning. According to the KTA crash log, a semi driven by 50-year-old Boyd Wayne Younger of Paris Texas was traveling southbound and attempted to change lanes.
Younger then struck another southbound semi driven by 49-year-old Elizah Collins of Fort Worth Texas. This caused Collins’ semi to strike the barrier wall and a mile marker sign.
Collins was taken to Newman Regional Health with what is being called suspected minor injuries. Younger was not hurt.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Emergency crews are currently on scene of a reported two vehicle injury accident on the Kansas Turnpike.
The Kansas Turnpike authority and Emporia Emergency Crews were called out to a reported injury accident at turnpike mile marker 102 southbound 25 miles southwest of Emporia shortly after 11:30 am Saturday morning. According to the KTA, two semis made contact on the roadway for currently unknown reasons.
Details on injuries and those involved are still pending. Individuals traveling in the vicinity are asked to exercise caution as crews remain on scene at last word.
