Olpe and Lebo each collected wins on the Area Game of the Week.
On the girls half of the frame, the Ople Lady Eagles would dominate on both sides of the ball to defeat the Lebo Lady Wolves 63-11. Olpe would outscore Lebo 37-2 in the second and third quarters en route to their win.
Olpe was led in scoring by senior Emma Miller with 18 points 10 of which came in the second quarter alone.
Coach Jesse Nelson says strong defense was the key to his team’s win.
With the win, Olpe now improves to 7-0 on the season as Lebo falls to 1-7.
In the boys game, Lebo would overcome struggles at the foul line to outlast Olpe 32-26. It was a tight game through the first three quarters and despite giving up two separate seven-point fourth-quarter leads Lebo would manage to hold on for the win.
The Wolves only shot 9 of 20 from the free throw line but hit 6 of 8 in the fourth quarter.
Head coach Dwayne Paul says when it comes to the win it doesn’t haven’t to be pretty.
Lebo was led in scoring by sophomore Devan McEwen with 16 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. Olpe was led by senior Camden Hoelting with 17 points.
Lebo now improves to 7-1 as Olpe drops to 4-3.
