(WSU) Wichita State was defeated by Memphis 85-74 in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams Thursday night.
Markis McDuffie scored 19 points to lead a group of four Shockers in double-figures. Samajae Haynes-Jones added 15 points. Freshmen Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler and Dexter Dennis each scored 12 points.
The Shockers fall to 7-6 overall. They return to action Sunday when they host Temple.
