Plumb Place is looking for a new leader.
Clara Corn, the director since April 2017, made her announcement in a social media statement Wednesday night. The statement was confirmed Thursday morning by Plumb Place Board President Jesse Murphy.
Corn has worked at Plumb Place and KansasWORKS, and she says it was time to lighten her schedule.
Corn replaced prior director Jill Wheeler in April 2017 after Wheeler had led the agency for 16 years. There is no word on a replacement plan. Corn directed people interested in the position to Murphy.
Plumb Place serves women in crisis situations with an emergency shelter, counseling and job services. Corn said it was an honor to serve women in crisis situations and she still plans to volunteer for the women’s shelter. She also thanked everybody associated with the facility, including staff, volunteers, donors and the women needing services.
Plumb Place has been dealing with the loss of over $50,000 from January 2014 through April 2017. Financial concerns were announced this past August.
