8 am Sunday: New Year’s Eve forecast starts with potential icing, ends with ice-cold weather
Travel on New Year’s Eve morning could be slick at times. Parties late New Year’s Eve night will be really cold.
The National Weather Service says an incoming storm system will give us a possible wintry mix, with rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet all possible along the Kansas Turnpike corridor Monday morning. Meteorologist Bryan Baerg says we’ll have a short window of possible icing Monday before a reinforcing shot of cold air hits the region late Monday night.
Air temperatures will be in the mid-teens overnight, with wind chills between zero and -10.
