(kcchiefs) The Seattle Seahawks out scored the Kansas City Chiefs 38-31 Sunday night, preventing the Chiefs from Clinching the AFC West and the number 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 273 yards and 3 touchdowns, setting the single-season franchise record for passing yards in the process.
Tailback Damien Williams was on the receiving end of Mahomes’ first touchdown pass of the night, catching a 2-yard strike midway through the first quarter. It was part of a wildly productive night for the five-year veteran, who amassed 140 yards of total offense and notched the first 100-yard rushing performance of his career.
Fellow tailback Charcandrick West also found the end zone on a 25-yard strike from Mahomes, becoming the 12th player to catch a touchdown for Kansas City this season.
Demarcus Robinson caught the 3rd touchdown pass of the night. Harrison Butker kicked 3 fieldgoals.
For Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson also threw 3 touchdown passes and running back Chris Carson rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
Penalties again hurt the Chiefs, they were flagged 8 times while Seattle was flagged only 3 times. After the game Coach Andy Reid said they made to many mistakes.
The Chiefs close out the regular season next Sunday when they host the Oakland Raiders.
The kick-off for that game has been moved to 3:35 next Sunday.
Week 16 ends Monday night with Oakland hosting Denver.
