Newman Express Care will be reopening its doors Saturday after a recent relocation.
Express Care moved Thursday from its previous location at Flinthills Mall to its new home inside of Newman’s new emergency department located on the south side of the hospital. The move became necessary for two reasons, patient traffic and the available space.
CEO Bob Wright says the same list of medical services will be available after the changeover. The financial process, however, will change. Currently, Express Care requires an upfront payment of some sort. After the move, Wright says patients will get financial options after their treatment, including income-based financial assistance or payment plans.
In addition to the recent move of Express Care, the Clinical Decision Unit or patient observation unit will also be moving to the new Emergency Department. That move is anticipated to take place by Jan. 6.
Express Care will be open Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
On Thursday, a public open house will be held to celebrate the opening of the new Emergency Department and the reopening of Express Care. The open house will also feature tours from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
