Changes are coming to KanCare effective Jan. 1, and changes are also coming for certain KanCare patients needing medical services at Newman Regional Health.
Earlier this summer, Aetna Better Health of Kansas was chosen to replace Amerigroup, which had been an original KanCare provider since the program began in 2012. Contract negotiations between the hospital and insurance provider have not been fruitful, so Newman Regional Health will not contract with Aetna. Chief Financial Officer Holly French says Aetna patients will notice delays.
Patient Account Supervisor Karen Hastert says patients will need to reach out to the other two KanCare providers to make changes. French says there will be an automatic rollover for Amerigroup patients if they don’t make any changes.
To make sure you’re part of an in-network health plan, call the KanCare Enrollment Center at 866-305-5147 or go online to www.applyforkancare.ks.gov. The initial deadline is Jan. 1, but the state is also telling residents they can make the change before April 3 if they miss the early deadline.
If you have questions, you can call Hastert at 343-6800 ext. 5110 or French at 343-6800 ext. 2610.
