The agenda for the Dec. board meeting at the Emporia Recreation Center was fairly light this time around.
The key update was on the Lee Beran indoor pool’s filtration system, which had problems due to its age of 15 years and several leaking valves.
Amanda Gutierrez, the Rec Center’s projects supervisor explains the various effects during the process of replacing the old system.
Costing $16,000, the “Volkswagon-sized” filtration system, as Gutierrez describes it, was purchased and installed in two weeks after some complications with the buyer.
The Lee Beran indoor pool may see future improvements, Gutierrez explains.
The pool at the Emporia Recreation Center is open and safe for patrons. The next board meeting will be on Jan. 21st at 5:30 pm.
