The Emporia High girls and boys basketball teams picked up wins over Topeka West Friday night.
The Lady Spartans out scored west 23-8 in the second half on the way to a 40-28 win over West. Coach Carolyn Dorsey was pleased with the way they responded in the 2nd half.
Taylor Milleson led the offense with a game high 15 points. The Lady Spartans are now 2-3 for the season and 1-1 in Centennial League play.
The Emporia High boys used a 10-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-18 halftime lead and never trailed the rest of the night on the way to a 58-42 win. Coach Beau Welch said they played with more energy in the 2nd quarter.
Kyler McCullough finished with a Career high 17 points. Jace Stewart added 13 points and Charles Snyder finished with 10 points. The Spartans improve to 4-1 for the season and 1-1 in Centennial League play.
Both teams host Highland Park on Tuesday.
