Tap water is flowing freely in Overbrook after the Kansas Department of health and Environment lifted a boil water advisory for the town Thursday.
Water mains failed in the 200 block of Elm and near the intersection of Sixth and Cedar on Monday night. The breaks caused a loss of water pressure, which can result in a loss of chlorine residuals and thus increase the risk of bacterial contamination.
Not everyone was affected in the town of around 1,100 residents. Customers on Elm Street south of Market and on Second a block west of Elm had to boil their water, as well as water customers east of Maple between US Highway 56 and Fifth Street.
