The Salvation Army continues raising funds through its annual Red Kettle campaign.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Wednesday, Capt. Deb Thompson said the holiday fundraising drive focuses a lot of attention on Salvation Army services.
Following two Doubler Days and Monday’s Badges United, which produced almost $3,300, the campaign is currently at $22,000. Goal is $72,000 by Christmas Eve.
Totals from Tuesday’s Doubler Day have not been released. The Badges United total, meanwhile, was around $1,100 more than last year, with Emporia firefighters raising $786, Lyon County deputies raising $1,062 and Emporia police officers raising over $1,400.
More Doubler Days are coming. On Friday, EVCO will match donations. Next Monday, Olpe’s Knights of Columbus will match up to $500. Anonymous donors are matching funds on both Dec. 19 and 21.
