For the second time in three weeks, a closure announcement has been made about an area medical clinic.
Late Friday, Newman Regional Health announced the closure of Osage Family Care in Osage City effective Jan. 11. This means APRN Tammy Patterson, the main provider at Osage Family Care, joins Newman Regional Health Family Medicine and Pediatric Clinics on Jan. 14.
In a statement, Patterson said, “Building my own practice and serving the healthcare needs of my friends and neighbors here in Osage City has been one of the highlights of my professional life. It was with very mixed feelings that I will be closing my practice. However, the opportunity to spend more time with my family and have medical colleagues I can interact with on a daily basis all while remaining close enough to serve the patients from my former practice was simply an opportunity I felt I had to take.”
Hospital administrators are encouraging current patients to follow Patterson as she establishes her practice in Emporia and to continue appointments in Osage City until the practice closes next month. Patients can call the Osage City office at 785-528-2640 through Jan. 11 and 343-2376 starting Jan. 14.
Newman Regional Health says it will be the custodian of Patterson’s patient records after Jan. 11, so patients will have to call the hospital at 343-6800 to obtain medical records. Patients wanting to transfer their records before that date can call Osage Family Care to get their records.
The move follows the closure of Flint Hills Community Health Center’s clinic at Madison High School after a lengthy string of monthly financial losses. That clinic closes Dec. 28.
